Essential Oils are a great way to manage stress. Aromas can have an incredibly powerful effect, and research has shown, that when used correctly they can work to soothe and heal the body, mind and spirit.

Stress is becoming a more and more common problem in our fast moving lives. You can use Essential Oils to help you with stress management. Lavender essential oil is well known as a treatment for calming anxiety and panic attacks.

Essential oils that contain linalool are particularly helpful for reducing your stress levels.

Many essential oils contain linalool, and the amount found in them varies tremendously according to the species of the plant. Here are just some of the effective stress-busting oils that contain linalool that you might want to use to help you feel more relaxed and refreshed.

Basil– Sweet basil contains up to 60% linalool and is an excellent essential oil for reducing stress. In particular sweet basil works as a cephalic, helping to clear the head whilst reducing cortisol levels. This in turn lowers blood pressure and balances blood sugar.

Lavender– Vaporizing some lavender essential oil in a diffuser, or relaxing in a lavender bath can help to lower stress levels at the end of a hard day. Aromatherapy treatments with lavender can slow the activity of the nervous system, improve sleep quality, promote relaxation, and lift mood.

Alternatively you might want to consider turning to citrus oils to help in the battle against stress. Citrus oils work by energizing and uplifting the emotions.

Lemon– This essential oil is renowned for its ability to revive and refresh. Lemon oil can help to increase your white blood cell count, which will boost your immune system. A depressed immune system is a common symptom of stress. Remember citrus oils can be irritating to sensitive skins, so take special care when using them.

Grapefruit– The uplifting fragrance of this fruit is one of the best natural pick-me-ups. Grapefruit essential oil helps reduce the sadness associated with depression, with a fresh aroma that delivers an energizing and rejuvenating effect. Put 4 or 5 drops in a diffuser to fill a room with this wonderful fragrance that will help to lift your mood on the darkest of days.
