Cough Calming Aroma Stick.

This week I have seen three separate clients all with persistent, with a hard to shift cough. So it inspired me to share with you one of my go to blends for dealing with coughs and respiratory issues.

Black Pepper essential oil is one of my favourites for calming a cough. It’s a great companion if you’re dealing with a spastic cough that won’t let you get out a full sentence.

This inhaler recipe combines Black Pepper with Frankincense and Black Spruce essential oils, both of which are excellent for treating a cough and other respiratory issues.

Calm That Cough!
5 drops Black Pepper (Piper nigrum)
5 drops Frankincense (Boswellia carterii)
5 drops Black Spruce (Picea mariana)

Aromatherapy inhalers are easy to make and use. An inhaler looks like a lip balm tube, and there are four parts to it: a piece of cotton to absorb the essential oils, a sleeve to hold the cotton, a bottom part that snaps into the sleeve and keeps the cotton in place, and a lid to prevent the oils from evaporating.

To use it, just pinch one nostril closed, hold the inhaler up to the other, and inhale deeply. It feels so good! You’ll want to carry it with you everywhere and take it out whenever you start coughing. Fortunately, inhalers are so convenient that they fit right in your pocket.
